The Beidou system officially joined the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and became a universal satellite navigation system for civil aviation around the world

       Recently, the latest revision of Annex 10 of the Convention on International Civil Aviation, which contains the standards and recommended measures for the Beidou Navigation Satellite System (hereinafter referred to as the "BeiDou System"), has officially entered into force. This marks the official entry of the Beidou system into the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standard and the global civil aviation common satellite navigation system.

　　The Beidou system is a satellite navigation system independently built and operated by China focusing on the needs of national security and economic and social development, and is also one of the four major global satellite navigation systems recognized by the United Nations, serving users in more than 200 countries and regions around the world. The international standardization of civil aviation of the Beidou system is the basis for its global civil aviation application. ICAO needs to verify the functions and performance that can be achieved during the construction of the Beidou system, confirm that the Beidou system meets the requirements of providing global civil aviation applications, as well as compatibility and interoperability with other satellite navigation systems, and finally add relevant technical standards and recommended measures of the Beidou system to its existing standard documents according to the verification results.

　　In 2010, the Civil Aviation Administration of China formally submitted the application for the Beidou system to enter the ICAO standard at the 37th ICAO General Assembly, and jointly organized the National Key Laboratory of Air-Ground Integrated New Navigation System Technology of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and other industry-university-research units to form a working team to systematically promote the relevant work, and after more than 10 years of 28 working meetings, more than 50 technical discussions, more than 100 technical documents, and more than 2,000 answers, it was reviewed by the ICAO technical expert group , reviewed by the Air Navigation Committee and reviewed by the Council, and finally successfully promoted the Beidou system standards and recommended measures to be added to the ICAO standard. The Beidou system has successfully passed the relevant technical verification of ICAO, which also fully proves its ability to provide navigation services in various industries around the world.

　　The relevant person in charge of the Air Traffic Control Industry Management Office of the Civil Aviation Administration of China said that this is the first time that China's civil aviation has taken its own team as the core and successfully promoted the inclusion of China's independent innovation complex system into the ICAO standard, which is of great significance for promoting the high-quality development of civil aviation and the construction of a transportation power. In recent years, the Civil Aviation Administration of China has actively deployed and promoted the civil aviation application of the Beidou system, and established a special working mechanism for the civil aviation application of the Beidou system, which mainly covers the international standardization of the Beidou system and the application of transport aviation and general aviation. The participation of the Beidou system design and operation team and representatives of the domestic aviation industry in the international standardization work has deepened the understanding of all parties on the requirements of the civil aviation application of the Beidou system, and will also be conducive to promoting the marketization, industrialization and international application of the Beidou system in the field of civil aviation.
